Ashland man arrested for making COVID-19 threats

Police arrested an Ashland man Monday after he allegedly threatened to give COVID-19 to two store clerks.

ABC 17 reports Anthony Nunes is facing two counts of first-degree harassment. Court documents say he visited two different Jefferson City stores over the weekend, claimed to have the novel coronavirus and threatened to give it to the store clerk.

It’s unclear whether Nunes was actually infected with the virus.
