Columbia murder trial is on hold

A Columbia woman charged with killing a Mizzou student from Jefferson City and burning his body still hasn’t had a court ordered mental evaluation. State mental health department officials say there’s a long backlog for those tests because of staffing shortages. The judge denied a request from Emma Adams’ attorneys to use a private doctor for the evaluation.
