Dead jail inmate’s name released

Investigators name the inmate who died in the Cole County Jail over the weekend. 67 – year old Earl Manuel Sr. died Saturday. Jail staff found him unresponsive in a medical holding cell. Callaway County deputies are handling the investigation. They say Manuel was in the medical cell because of pre-existing health issues. He was jailed on drug charges. An autopsy is planned. Investigators say they don’t suspect foul play.
