Woman shot during JCMO abduction is still in bad shape

A Jefferson City woman is in critical condition after being shot several times after being kidnapped by along with her daughter by the daughter’s father. The incident started at the Capital City Apartments near Lafayette and Dunklin Tuesday night. The chase lead into Illinois where the woman and her daughter were able to escape from Leslie Austin after police used stop sticks to flatten his tires. Austin fatally shot a Florrisant man while trying to hijack his car. Austin then died in  gun battle with Illinois police. The child wasn’t hurt. Austin had a long history of domestic abuse involving his ex- girlfriend.
