The nuke plant is shut down right now

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Ameren’s nuclear plant in central Missouri has halted operations after a non-nuclear operating issue involving its generator.

It is the third time in nine months the plant at Reform about 30 miles north of Jefferson City has shut down.

The company said in a statement Thursday the issue occurred when the plant was ramping up after maintenance.

The company has 60 days to report specifics of the problem to federal authorities.

Ameren did not say when it expects the plant to be back online.

The plant also shut down in April and September.
