Cole County deputy claims racial discrimination in lawsuit

A fired Cole County Deputy is suing the department, claiming he’s a victim of racial discrimination. David Barrett worked for the sheriff’s office from 2006 until he was let go in 2021. Barrett is bi-racial. He says he was told he was fired for incompetence, abuse of authority and other reasons.
