Trial date set for Cole County man charged in girlfriend’s death

A Jefferson City man charged in the shooting death of his girlfriend will now stand trial this spring.

Josh Wilbers is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Hallie Phillips in 2022.

Wilbers told investigators he was showing Phillips a new gun when it went off hitting her in the head.

She died from her injuries.
