The news stories may surround Columbia’s challenges with homeless camps but Jefferson City has its own concerns. Columbia is on notice from DNR over pollution and water quality issues in Hinkson Creek near one camp. Jefferson City has several homeless camps including those unhoused who live near and around the downtown area. The Salvation Army says they’re doubling the size of the Capital City homeless shelter.
