KWOS is highlighting an outstanding local high school athlete each week, brought to you by MU Health Care Sports Medicine. This week, we feature Jefferson City running back Zavion Finney.
Last week, Finney rushed for four touchdowns and caught a pass for a fifth touchdown, all in the first half, as Jefferson City celebrated homecoming with a win over Columbia Battle. Finney had touchdown runs of 10, 65, 36 and 2 yards in the game. The senior also caught a 23 yard touchdown pass from Max Stackman as Jefferson City led 45-6 at the half.
“Zavion brings a tremendous work ethic and a high character level to our team. On the field, he brings toughness and resiliency with a skill set that is a perfect combination of power and speed,” said Jefferson City Jays Head Football Coach Eric Thomas.
Entering the final game of the regular season this Friday night, Finney has 1,476 yards rushing on the season and has 21 rushing touchdowns for the Jays.
