A bond hearing is set for Tuesday afternoon in Boone County Circuit Court for the Florida man charged with murder for last weekend’s deadly triple shooting in downtown Columbia.

Boone County prosecutors have charged 23-year-old Misael Covarrubias with second degree murder, two counts of first degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. He remains jailed without bond.

Covarrubias is scheduled to appear in court via video today at 1 before Boone County Judge Kimberly Shaw for a confined docket hearing, which is a bond hearing.
Last weekend’s early-morning shooting near Ninth and Broadway killed 21-year-old Stephens College senior nursing student Aiyanna Williams. The Columbia Police Department’s three-page probable cause statement alleges that Covarrubias fired his pistol 11 times in what court documents describe as “the busy, crowded downtown area.”
