Fulton man charged in deadly triple shooting at Columbia’s Greens makes initial court appearance

A convicted felon from Fulton charged with second degree murder and three other felonies for Sunday night’s horrific triple shooting at the Greens apartments on Clark lane has made his first court appearance.

Boone County prosecutors have also charged 23-year-old James Lamont Caldwell Jr. with two counts of first degree assault and armed criminal action and he’s being held without bond. Caldwell appeared in Boone County Circuit Court for his initial arraignment on Tuesday via video.

CPD investigators say one of the three people shot Sunday night has died, and she’s identified as 21-year-old Brianna Hawkins of Fulton. The Columbia Police Department’s three-page probable cause statement says she suffered multiple gunshot wounds. CPD says the other two victims have suffered life-threatening injuries. One of them was shot and stabbed, according to the probable cause statement.
