KWOS is highlighting an outstanding local high school athlete each week, brought to you by MU Health Care Sports Medicine. This week we feature Capital City Lady Cavaliers wrestler Athena Anderson. Saturday, Anderson captured a district wrestling title at 145 going 4-0 in the tournament with three of those wins by fall. Earlier this season, she won a Central Missouri Activities Conference title at 145. Athena is 44-4 on the season and has 105 career wins at Capital City High School. "Athena is everything you want in a student-athlete. She sets big goals for herself and works every day to be the hardest worker in the room, whether it’s at practice, in competition, or in the classroom. She’s a positive leader who builds up her teammates and makes everyone around her better. On top of that, she’s one of the top students in her class and one of the most feared on the mat! We’re proud of the example she sets for our team and school," said Capital City Head Wrestling Coach Mitchell Werdehausen. Anderson will compete in the Class 2 Missouri State High School Activities Association Girls Wrestling Championships on February 27-28 at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Last year, Anderson finished second in the state in Class 2 at 140.
