KWOS is highlighting an outstanding local high school athlete each week, brought to you by MU Health Care Sports Medicine. This week we feature Helias Crusaders quarterback Austin Weaver. The senior passed for 301 yards in a Class 6 State Quarterfinal football game at Nixa Friday night. He also rushed for 175 yards in the football game, including a 58 yard touchdown run.
"Austin has had a fantastic football career for Helias. He is an incredible competitor who gave 100% to this program throughout his 4 year career. His leadership and effort will be missed," said Helias Head Football Coach Chris Hentges.
For the season, Weaver threw for 2,355 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also rushed for 753 yards and scored 16 touchdowns on the ground.
Weaver broke a number of career records at Helias including: Most Wins by a Quarterback (29); Touchdown Passes (62); Pass Completions (384); Passing Yards (5,931 yards); and Dual Threat Yards (7,825 yards).
