KWOS is highlighting an outstanding local high school athlete each week, brought to you by MU Health Care Sports Medicine. This week we feature Helias guard Beau Blanton.
At the Central Bank Great 8 Classic, Blanton averaged 16 points a game for the Crusaders and then on Friday night at Hannibal, the junior guard had 26 points as Helias beat Hannibal 73-48.
“Beau is a kid that can just score from everywhere. He presents a lot of match up problems for opposing teams. As a younger player, he grew up playing in the post a lot so he still has the ability to go down there as a guard. He is a player we can draw up a post set for and anytime he has a mismatch, he can score down there and that is a really good weapon to have on our team,” said Helias Head Basketball Coach Joe Rothweiler.
Blanton currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 16.4 points per game. He is shooting 62.7% from the field and 41% from the three point arc. Blanton also averages four rebounds a game for the Helias Crusaders.
