KWOS is highlighting an outstanding local high school athlete each week, brought to you by MU Health Care Sports Medicine. This week we feature Capital City forward Grady Payton.

The senior set the school record for points in a game when he scored 45 points in a Capital City win over Lutheran: St. Charles last week. He followed that up with 34 points against Father Tolton later in the week.

“Grady brings a wealth of experience and leadership to our team along with a tremendous skill set. He has shown throughout this season that he has the ability to score the ball in a variety of ways, which makes him a unique matchup for opposing defenses,” said Capital City Head Basketball Coach Ryan Fick.

Payton is currently averaging 25.1 points per game for the Capital City Cavaliers. He also averages 9.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game.
