KWOS is highlighting an outstanding local high school athlete each week, brought to you by MU Health Care Sports Medicine. This week, we feature Helias Crusaders Quarterback Bryan Carden.
Friday night at Capital City, Carden was 12 of 15 passing for 237 yards and four touchdowns as Helias beat Capital City to move to 6-0 on the year. The senior threw touchdown passes of 40 and 16 yards to wide receiver Jordan Sykes in the first half. Then in the third quarter, Bryan threw TD passes to Hayden Reinsch (9 yards) and Michael Malmstrom (17 yards).
“Bryan brings maturity, leadership and a quiet confidence to our football team. Bryan has been a back-up quarterback for three years and patiently waited for his time to lead our offensive team. He is having a fantastic season thus far and he is on pace to be a record setting quarterback this season,” said Helias Head Football Coach Chris Hentges.
So far this season, Bryan Carden is 74 of 116 (63.8%) passing for 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Friday night, Helias meets Jefferson City. The winner takes home the Mayor’s Cup.
