KWOS is highlighting an outstanding local high school athlete each week, brought to you by MU Health Care Sports Medicine. This week we feature Helias Crusaders wrestler Zyan Knollmeyer.
Saturday at the district wrestling tournament in Bolivar, Knollmeyer won a district title in the 285 pound weight class. The junior went 4-0 in the tournament, winning all four of his matches by fall.
“Zyan brings such a silent confidence to this program! To watch him grow and gain his confidence has been remarkable! Our team feeds off his energy! He has written such an incredible story of his life and he’s just beginning the best part of it all!,” said Helias Wrestling Coach Kyle Markway.
Knollmeyer is one of 11 Helias wrestlers who will head to the Class 3 Missouri State High School Activities Association State Wrestling Championships this Friday and Saturday at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
Zyan heads to the state wrestling tournament undefeated this year. He is 36-0.
Last year, Zyan Knollmeyer finished second in the state in the Class 3, 285 pound weight class.
