Law designed to protect kids in group homes is working

A state law sponsored by a Mid – Missouri lawmaker is keeping kids safe while they’re in group homes. Wardsville Rep. Rudy Veit’s bill targeted some homes that were exempt from state regulations. Veit says those homes run by religious organizations did not have to register or have their employees go through criminal background checks. But that’s changed since the law went on the books two years ago…

The advocacy group ‘Missouri Kids First’ said the intent of the law was to close loopholes which left children unprotected and vulnerable to abuse.
