Leading auto racer rookie of the year candidate is a Columbia native

A race car driver who grew up in Columbia could lock down rookie of the year honors next weekend at the world finals in Charlotte.

Garet Williamson races nationwide for Fischer Motorsports of Jefferson City, a dirt sprint car team. Fischer Body Shop owner Devin Fischer notes Garet is currently eighth in national points and leads rookie of the year candidates by 126 points with four races left.
