A bank that was founded in St. Thomas more than 100 years ago is one of mid-Missouri’s fastest-growing banks.

Mid America Bank now has a new multi-million dollar facility on Stellar drive in south Columbia. It opened in March 2025. Mid America Bank Columbia president Brad Roling spoke Saturday on 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Roundtable”, telling host Fred Parry that the bank had three branches and about $20-million in assets when the current owners bought it in the 1990s:
“We are now up to 11 branches, over 150 employees and $1.2 billion in assets,” Mr. Roling says.
He tells listeners that there are “very few” local community banks left and emphasizes the importance of giving back to the local community.
Mr. Roling says while there’s some uncertainty now with the local economy, Columbia’s various economic sectors are helping. He appeared in-studio for the hour on 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Roundtable”:
“A good thing about the Columbia economy … in my opinion we’re very diverse as far as like what makes this town work, right. I mean we’re not just one industry,” he says.
Mr. Roling notes health care, insurance, higher education and manufacturing are key components of Columbia’s economy. You can listen to the full interview with Brad Roling here.
