The Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association’s (CMFCAA) biggest fundraiser of the year is Friday evening at Jefferson City’s Capitol Plaza Hotel.

CMFCAA communications director Gerry Tritz says every dollar raised will help essential services that keep children and families stable in their 24-county service area:

“It’s a wide swath. Last year we served over 5,000 people. 53-hundred people. We have four offices to do that within those counties,” Tritz says.

CMFCAA says every gift, large or small, lays another brick of stability for foster, adoptive and kinship families across their service area. Foster and adoptive children and families across the entire region will benefit from the CMFCAA’s “Legacy of Love” gala Friday evening. Mr. Tritz tells 939 the Eagle that many foster children come in with just the clothes they have on and their belongings are sometimes in a trash bag. Friday’s gala will help fund what are called begin again backpacks:

“it just has some essentials for the kids. It has clothes, it has some toiletries, a little toy. Things like that,” Mr. Tritz says.

Friday’s gala is from 5:30 to 8:30 pm and includes a meal, cocktails, music and entertainment. Tickets are $75 each. Tritz says this year’s theme is “A Foundation for a Brighter Tomorrow”, which celebrates the strength and courage it takes to build something lasting.
