Missouri’s attorney general says the deputy attorney general who became disoriented after climbing to Wyoming’s highest peak is expected to make a full recovery.
55-year-old Shaun Mackelprang of Jefferson City was rescued Wednesday in Wyoming’s Wind River Range, following an extensive search that included a helicopter and ground search teams. Attorney General Catherine Hanaway joined us live on 939 the Eagle’s “Wake Up Missouri”:
“He’s doing well, he was dehydrated. He is in the hospital but no broken bones. We think he’s going to make a full recovery,” General Hanaway says.
Sheriff’s deputies in Wyoming thank everyone, including hikers, who shared information and reviewed photographs and GPS data.
Attorney General Hanaway is thanking you for your prayers this week:
“And I know so many mid-Missourians were praying for his safe recovery, and those prayers were answered,” she says.
The “Cowboy State Daily” newspaper in Wyoming reports Mr. Mackelprang was found dehydrated and disoriented, three days after he was reported missing. The Sublette County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement late Thursday night, saying Mackelprang continues to recover well.
