The Mizzou football team’s season opener is just 28 days away and Missouri’s junior senator says he is pumped about the 2026 season.
U.S. Sen. Eric Schmitt was live on 939 the Eagle’s “Wake Up Missouri”:
“I’ve gotten to know Coach Drink (Mizzou football Coach Eliah Drinkwitz) very well and (Mizzou athletic director) Laird Veatch I met with him last week. And of course (UM System President Dr.) Mun Choi does a great job at Mizzou”
Senator Schmitt says he intends to be at Faurot Field in Columbia “a bunch” this fall to see the Missouri Tigers in action. He joined hosts Randy Tobler and Stephanie Bell live on “Wake Up Missouri”:
“I’m excited about the Tigers. I think their offense is going to be pretty explosive. And there’s a lot of turnover on the defensive side of the ball, but they’ve really over the years coached those guys up,” he says.
Senator Schmitt tells listeners he also intends to attend a ribbon-cutting for Mizzou’s $250-million Memorial Stadium improvement project. The project is expected to be done by the season’s start. This will be Memorial Stadium’s 100th anniversary.
