The U.S. Exercise Tiger Foundation is appealing to mid-Missouri veterans to help with Monday and Tuesday morning’s 24-hour Veterans Day vigil at the Boone County Courthouse memorial plaza.
For more than 40 years, MU cadets have done this vigil, including in snowstorms and in rain. Exercise Tiger Foundation director Susan Haines says the cadets can’t do the vigil, due to the federal government shutdown.
The Exercise Tiger Foundation plans to place a wreath at the memorial plaza Monday morning at 11. The vigil begins then and continues until Tuesday morning’s 11 o’clock Veterans Day ceremony.
Hy-Vee is donating coffee, restrooms, chairs and a canopy for the vigil. The Exercise Tiger Foundation is asking any veterans or reservists who can help during the vigil to call (573) 356-3093. They have four volunteers so far.
