Eliah Drinkwitz’s #20 Missouri Tiger football team will play Troy from the Sun Belt Conference Saturday night at sold-out Faurot field in Columbia.
Mizzou players will wear special throwback uniforms as part of the 100th anniversary game to mark Memorial Stadium’s Centennial milestone. Both teams are 2-0 and kickoff is set for 6 pm.
The newly-designed uniform captures snapshots from different eras. The pants represent the historic shade of gold the Tigers would wear up until the 21st century. The jersey does NOT say Missouri or Mizzou and goes back to Mizzou’s earlier era with a clean, understated look. You’ll notice black, gold and white stripes on the sleeves, which celebrates Al Onafrio’s “Giant Slayers” in the 1970s and the Warren Powers era too. The Block M first appeared on Mizzou helmets in 1971.
The University of Missouri will also recognize the 1960 football team as national champions during a halftime ceremony tomorrow night. U.S. Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri sponsored the resolution, which was unanimously approved by the U.S. Senate.
