Missouri’s governor has signed executive orders giving most of Jefferson City’s 14,000 state employees the day off on Christmas Eve and on Friday, which is the day after Christmas.

Christmas Day this week falls on a Thursday, and that is already a federal and Missouri holiday. President Donald Trump has issued an executive order giving most federal employees the day off on Christmas Eve and on Friday, and Governor Mike Kehoe says his orders are in accordance with the President’s executive order.

The governor had already signed an order closing most state offices on Friday December 26.

Governor Kehoe praises Missouri’s state employees, writing that “your compassion, humility and service are reflected daily in the work you do for Missourians, and we hope you know how vital that work truly is.” Christmas Day is one of Missouri’s 13 official state holidays.
