Monday is Presidents’ Day and President George Washington’s birthday, which is a federal, Missouri, county and city holiday. Most federal, state, county and city offices are closed today, except emergency services like police and fire protection and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Another exception is Columbia: city spokeswoman Sydney Olsen tells 939 the Eagle that Columbia city offices are open today and that the council will meet tonight.

It’s also a federal holiday. Banks and financial institutions will be closed and there is no regular mail delivery. Regular mail delivery resumes on Tuesday.
