Columbia firefighters are reminding residents to be cautious near cliff edges, after they rescued a person Tuesday who fell about 30 feet from a cliff edge at Capen park near Rock Quarry road.

Columbia Fire Department (CFD) personnel used chainsaws, ropes and other specialized equipment to make the rescue. CFD says the person who fell was conscious, breathing and alert when found. The fall happened at about 3:40 pm. The person was taken from the park in a utility vehicle (UTV) for off-road transport then transferred to an awaiting ambulance.
