Graphic court documents say the 37-year-old woman who was killed this week at a motel on Columbia’s Range Line had several bruises “all over her body”, including severe bruising on her neck and face and swollen discolored eyelids.
Boone County prosecutors have charged 35-year-old Nicholas Ayres of Crane with second degree murder and felony domestic assault for the killing of 37-year-old Destiny Dunn of Kansas City. The murder happened at By the Way motel on Range Line.
The Columbia Police Department’s graphic three-page probable cause statement says Ayres’ cell phone allegedly contains video of him assaulting the woman repeatedly, grabbing her hair, slapping her and punching her in the face.
Ayres is being held in the Boone County jail without bond.
CPD describes its investigation as ongoing and they encourage anyone with information on the homicide to call Columbia Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS. Ayres is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday afternoon at 1 in Boone County Circuit Court before Judge Jayne Anne Pearman.
