While the heaviest snowfall will be in Moberly and north Missouri on Monday, the entire 939 the Eagle listening area is expected to see snow by this evening.
Columbia, Hallsville, Centralia, Moberly, Huntsville and towns in the northern part of our listening area are under a winter weather advisory for today, starting at 9 am. Jefferson City is not under the advisory. National Weather Service (NWS) St. Louis meteorologist Matt Beitscher tells 939 the Eagle that he expects Columbia and Jefferson City to start seeing snow by noon and expects one to two inches in Columbia. Jefferson City should see a half-inch.
Mr. Beitscher says Moberly and Huntsville should see two to four inches. Moberly Public Schools have canceled classes for today, noting there’s already ice on the ground in some spots from this weekend. Westran R-1 schools in Huntsville are also closed today. The winter weather advisory is from 9 this morning through 9 pm.
