UPDATE: Columbia Public Works snowplow crews to work in 12-hour shifts during winter storm

The National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis says the heaviest snow in this weekend’s winter storm in mid-Missouri will fall on Sunday.

The NWS in St. Louis has issued a winter storm warning for most of the 939 the Eagle mid-Missouri listening area, effective at 11:59 Friday night. That warning area includes Columbia, Jefferson City, Boonville and Fulton.

The latest forecast from the NWS has Columbia and Jefferson City seeing six to 11 inches of snow by Sunday evening, with the main push of snow on Sunday morning.

A 27-person snowplow crew from Columbia Public Works reported for duty at 10 pm on Friday. They will work through Saturday morning at 7 and operations will then continue in 12-hour shifts during the storm’s duration. Columbia’s Go COMO bus service plans to begin operations on Saturday morning using a normal schedule.
