Southwest Missouri and the Ozarks came up big for Hungerthon 2026, helping Zimmer’s KWTO (AM 560) raise more than $252,000 and sponsor 550 children with backpacks from Ozarks’ Food Harvest Weekend Backpack program.
KWTO’s Don Louzader reports that thanks to the generosity of KWTO listeners and listeners of other Zimmer stations, 701 children in the Ozarks will get backpacks with nutritious food.
The weekend backpack program provides about 1,800 area children in the Ozarks who are facing hunger with six nutritious and accessible meals.
