Jefferson City voters have approved a lodging tax extension that is aimed at partly funding a conference center.
Proposition A passed by about 350 votes. The final vote was 2,371 in favor and 2,026 against, according to final results from the Cole County clerk’s office.
Jefferson City Mayor Ron Fitzwater supports the lodging tax increase, saying Missouri’s capital city needs a quality conference center to address the needs of the community. The extension is aimed at supporting tourism in Jefferson City.
Cole County clerk Steve Korsmeyer says voter turnout was 15.6 percent.
