A former Missouri probation and parole officer who also worked as a state corrections officer is now jailed without bond, charged with killing his wife in mid-Missouri’s Kingdom City.

The killing happened at the Baymont Inn and Suites, according to sheriff’s deputies. Callaway County prosecutors have charged 44-year-old Jonathan Guthrie Houston with first degree murder and kidnapping.

The Callaway County Sheriff Department’s probable cause statement says Houston allegedly strangled his wife and tortured her by directing someone to pour hot water on the victim’s legs. Houston allegedly instructed someone else to cover the wife’s mouth and a radio was turned up so her screams could not be heard by others at the hotel, court documents say.

The court documents also say Houston is currently under investigation for sexual assault. The court documents are too graphic for 939 the Eagle to publish.

Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies say this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
