Cole County’s prosecutor says the two women who were shot last week on Jefferson City’s Cordell Avenue have died.

Prosecutor Locke Thompson says he’s filed two counts of first degree murder charges against 40-year-old Michael Davis of Jefferson City. Davis allegedly shot his wife and her friend last weekend as the two victims were in a vehicle, which then crashed into a wooded area. Prosecutor Thompson says 39-year-old Shawna Davis and 31-year-old Sofie Mulcahey have died at Columbia’s University Hospital.
A first degree murder charge means the state believes it was premeditated. Davis is expected to be arraigned on the new charges on Friday.
