The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Lee Fine Memorial Airport. Highway Patrol Captain Eric Brown tells 939 the Eagle that they were notified of the crash at 2:20 pm and that the plane was discovered by Miller County Sheriff’s deputies in the 200 block of Public Beach Drive.

Troopers say officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to arrive at Lake of the Ozarks Wednesday morning.

The Patrol says the FAA and the NTSB will investigate the crash. State troopers say the small plane was fully engulfed when they arrived.
