Special meeting on JCMO tax rate

Jefferson City’s property tax rate will stay the same. It’s at 46 – cent per $100 of assessed valuation. The Council decided to leave the rate as is at a special Thursday meeting. One councilman argued to lower the rate, but Mayor Carrie Tergin claimed that lowering the rate could force the city to lay off staff.
