Man convicted in Columbia killing asks for new trial

Charles Erickson has filed another appeal. He pleaded guilty in 2004 to helping Ryan Ferguson rob Columbia Daily Tribune sports editor Kent Heitholt before Heitholt was killed. Ferguson’s conviction and life sentence were vacated in 2013. Erickson is serving a 25-year sentence. His lawyer filed his latest appeal this week.
